In our serie of interviews with this year's Eurovision competitors, today you can read an interview with Nina Badrić. She will be representing Croatia and her song will be released on February 18th.
Nina was chosen internally by the broadcaster to represent Croatia in Eurovision 2012. Announcement was made in January. Although there won't be a national selection this year, Dora 2012 will be held to celebrate nation's 20 years history in the contest. On February 18th, we are able to watch a show that will feature well-known artists like Maya Sar, Kaliopi, Rambo Amadeus, Hari Mata Hari and Emilija Kokic.
How did you felt when you received this invitation?
I was thrilled because they invite me to represent Croatia in Eurovision Song Contest. I am very proud and it is a big challenge for me and definitely a new step and inspiration in my career.
Your Eurovision entry will be presented later, can you already tell us something about it?
I am still dreaming and thinking about all the details, especially about the song. The song is the most important for me. Music is my power and only music give me the biggest support on stage.
You have competed in Dora for four times. You came 2nd in 2003 and now you will finally represent Croatia in the contest. Is Eurovision your dream come true?
I am very curious what will happen in Baku, Azerbaijan. Everybody are telling me that Eurovision Song Contest is a big, great party of music. I am looking forward to meet all the great musicians from all over the world.
You will be the 20th representative of Croatia in Eurovision. The best result of the country was 4th place. Do you think you can break this record?
I hope so! Hahahaa! But first I must get from semifinal to final. That will be a great succes for me.. After that...everything is possible...
Nina has released seven albums. The first one was released in 1995, although she has been singing since the early 1990s, so she is not on the stage for the first time when she is performing in Baku.
You released your first album in 1995 and the latest in 2011, what are your plans for the future?
I just released my new album "Nebo", as you said. After Eurovision Song Contest, I have something completely different, two big concerts in Zagreb with philharmonic orchestra and in September my tour is starting.
What happens next, must be busy times ahead?
Now it's a crazy time for me. Lot's of work, I am travelling a lot all over the world but I am happy. I really love my job so it's not that difficult for me.
And finally, would you like to tell something to my readers?
I wish you all the best in your life! Keep your fingers crossed for me in Eurovision Song Contest, and grab your phone and give your vote for me! Hahahaha
Thank you Nina Badrić, I am looking forward to hear what Croatia will have for the contest this year. You can visit her official website here.
