SABINA BABAYEVA - WHEN THE MUSIC DIES
Music: Anders Bagge, Sandra Bjurman, Stefan Örn, Johan Kronlund
Text: Anders Bagge, Sandra Bjurman, Stefan Örn, Johan Kronlund
.
SELECTION FORMAT
Azeris selected their representative for Eurovision 2012 with the same format as in 2011. Those who wanted to enter could send their application to the broadcaster. 119 attended and 72 of them were selected to compete in weekly televised preselection heats. At the end of each week one of the nine competitors qualified for the semifinal and others had to leave the competition. Five qualified for the final from the semifinal and the winner was chosen with the combination of jury voting and public televoting. Sabina's Eurovision entry was chosen later by the broadcaster.
SABINA BABAYEVA
Sabina Babayeva is a 32-year-old singer who participated the Azerbaijani preselection also in 2011 but came third in her heat. She graduated from the Asaf Zeynally College of Music with a degree in vocal arts and has participated several music competitions ever since. She especially loves jazz, soul and pop music.
ABOUT THE SONG
Sabina's Eurovision entry was chosen internally right after she won the national final in February. "When The Music Dies" is penned by Swedes. Stefan Örn and Sandra Bjurman were also behind last year's winning entry "Running Scared".
MY PREDICTION
This song gets votes across Europe and for sure will be among the top 10 in the final. Unfortunately Azerbaijan resorts to Swedish music professionals and won't present its own music in the competition. Still better than last year's winning entry but far from "Always".
NOW IT'S YOUR TURN
