SELECTION FORMAT

Melodifestivalen 2012 was introduced with some small changes. SVT received over 3400 demos. First-timers were able to send their entries to 'Webbjokern', which winner was chosen by online voters. In November, SVT presented the artists, competing in four semifinals. Their songs were released just hours before each semifinal. From each semifinal, held all over Sweden, two qualified straight to the national final and another two to Second Chance where eight entries were competing against each other. Eventually, two more finalists qualified to the final from Second Chance.

The winner of Melodifestivalen 2012 was chosen with a combination of public televoting and international juries.

LOREEN

Loreen is a 28-year old singer who competed in the Swedish Idol 2004 where she finished fourth.  After the Swedish Idol, she released a single, "The Snake", with the group Rob'n'Raz. Loreen also worked as a televison presenter for a few months. She returned to music business six years later and participated Melodifestivalen 2011 with her entry 'My Heart Is Refusing Me', however she couldn't make it to the final. A year later she tried her luck again in the contest and succesfully won it. Now her Eurovision entry is the most played Eurovision 2012 entry in the radio stations across Europe and she leads almost all the polls and predictions.

MY PREDICTION

I must admit that I don't get all this hype around Sweden this year, however Loreen is definitely one of the best performers and her song is one of the best in this year's competition. "Euphoria" was a magical eye catcher at the first time when I heard this but now it's losing its speciality. It's positive that a Eurovision song is played in radio channels across Europe and IF this wins, it might be a good thing for the contest, just like Alexander Rybak's and Lena's victories.

NOW IT'S YOUR TURN
