GAITANA - BE MY GUEST
Text: Gaitana
Music: Gaitana
SELECTION FORMAT
Unlike many other broadcasters, the Ukrainian NTU decided to give everyone an opportunity to get to represent his/her country in Baku. Submissions were received from November till December 25th. 19 entries were selected to the final by a jury, one through Inter Channel's show Number 1 and the remaining one through an internet competition. After this all, the line-up of 21 artists were competing in the televised national final on February 18th. The winner was chosen with a combination of jury voting and televoting.
GAITANA
Born in Kiev, Gaitana, 32, started to play saxophone in a music school from where she continued to study economics. Her father is from Congo and Gaitana has lived there for five years but returned to Ukraine with her mother. Gaitana's first album was released in 2003 and the latest in 2010. She composes her own songs by herself, including her Eurovision Song Contest entry. Now Gaitana is "Official Friend of UEFA Euro 2012" and she works in creative sports and social projects.

MY PREDICTION
Gaitana wasn't my favorite in the Ukrainian final and her victory was a little surprise for me at first. "Be My Guest" is a perfect song for football matches and other events like that but unfortunately her entry is weak for Eurovision Song Contest and it starts to bore me. Gaitana's voice is unique and I would like to see her singing a different song. My prediction; 6th-8th in the semi-final, although I wouldn't let this go to the final.
